I wanted to share a quick note from a recent coffee chat with two longtime Fair Haven residents, Etel Perrine and Anna Grace Howie. Between them, they bring more than 80 years of living in and paying attention to this town. It was one of those conversations that reminds you how much local knowledge matters.
What I appreciated most was not just what they know, but how they think. They don't agree on everything. We even got into a friendly debate about the street lamps on River Road. Are there too many or are they just right?
It was a great example of how two people who care deeply about the same place can see things differently and still have a thoughtful, respectful conversation.
These are conversations I want to keep having. Listening to people who have seen Fair Haven evolve over decades helps ground the decisions we make today. But great ideas are not tied to tenure, and newer voices are just as important in moving Fair Haven forward.
Whether you’ve been here 40 years or 4 months, what’s one thing you’d change? Let me know at antformayorfh@gmail.com
If you ever want to join for a coffee chat, I would love to hear from you. I'm at one of the first few booths at the Fair Haven Diner every Tuesday from 9:30a-11:30a.
